The Turn Company was launched by The Cardinal Group in January of 2020 and promised to change the way student housing professionals approach the summer TURN process. May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the US student housing industry made some huge strides this past academic cycle when it comes to helping understand our student residents and their mental wellness by creating the College Student Mental Wellness Coalition. In this episode, we replay a recent interview from ShopTalk's May webinar that happened on May 11th. Joining the conversation with Wes is Richie Lasek of CORE Space and the coalition's leadership, the co-founder of the HI How Are You Foundation, Tom Gimbel, and the Chief Clinical Officer from the JED Foundation, Dr. Nance Roy. Enrollment declines, artificial intelligence, political migration, leadership, and consolidation are likely the biggest factors impacting the student housing industry's future. April 19th & 20th will mark the first event of the SHURE Initiative hosted by CAPRE and Brian Klebash. Short for Student Housing and University Real Estate, the SHURE Initiative has a mission to "improve student lives and enhance the built environment in university neighborhoods." This first event will be focused on universities in Canada and will be held on the campus of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
In this episode, Wes sits down with Brian to discuss the SHURE Initiative and what is on tap for the conference.
